Ex-Chelsea attacker Gael Kakuta was tipped for big things when he made his Chelsea debut in 2009 but Kakuta left Chelsea in 2015 after failing to reach his potential.
Kakuta is back playing in Spain with Deportivo La Coruna after leaving the Chinese Super League.
Kakuta admits he should’ve made more of his chance at Chelsea.
Kakuta told Foot Mercato: “It’s hard at 17-18 years of age. Then during my loans, I had my share of responsibility. I did not really work, I did not have the mentality I have today.
“But Chelsea is one of the top five European clubs. It’s still my favourite club. It’s hard to impose oneself there when you’re young. Of course, it’s a club that buys a lot of young people and ultimately resells them.
“If the player can stay, he will stay. But you have to take advantage of going to clubs on loan to confirm yourself over time, in Chelsea or elsewhere.”
