It’s been 26 games played so far for Chelsea in the Premier League, and it was just the 6th start for Cesc Fabregas.
Conte has always preferred a combination of N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic in the heart of Chelsea midfield, which has kept Fabregas out of the team.
The Spaniard returned to the starting lineup against Swansea, as Conte opted to play Kante alongside Fabregas in the middle of the park.
Fabregas gave Conte something to think about, especially with his first-half display, where he sat comfortably in the midfield, passing the ball with so much suave. He got on the scoresheet and also got an assist, helping Chelsea to a 3-1 win.
Did Fabregas do enough to impress Conte and displace Matic in the starting XI? Conte’s next lineup will give us a clue.
