Despite winning the Premier League and FA Cup in his first season in charge of Chelsea, Carlo Ancelotti was sacked the following season, after guiding Chelsea to the second spot on the table.
Many people deemed the sack to be harsh, and his former assistant manager Paul Clement has revealed that the senior players in the squad were unhappy about his sacking. He then revealed that they went out to have a good time the night the former Chelsea boss lost his job.
“I was there,” he said when describing the night Ancelotti was sacked.
“I was having a drink with David Moyes. Carlo told me on the bus that he’d been sacked. Then word got around.
“Carlo was half expecting it.
“When we got back, we went out in London and had a really good night!
“It was a bar up in town. We went with some players — Frank Lampard, John Terry, Ashley Cole. Great night. The big players did not want him to go.”
Ancelotti has since gone on to manage PSG and Real Madrid, and is currently in charge of Bayern Munich.
