Ex-Chelsea player Mikael Forssell has saluted his former Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard as one of the ‘most influential players’ to pull on a Chelsea shirt.
Chelsea plan a half-time tribute to Lampard during our match against Swansea City on Saturday and Forssell who joined Chelsea together with Lampard in 2003 believes Lampard was a complete midfielder.
“(John) Terry and Frank Lampard, for me, are the most influential players to ever play for Chelsea,” Forssell, who won Chelsea’s first Premier League title in 50 years alongside the pair, told Goal. “[He has been] Unbelievable! He was a complete midfielder who was always working hard, setting up and scoring goals.
“There are not many players around like him anymore or ever have been [like him]. I wish him all the best for his time after football and I sent him a message [after he retired]. I hope he gets to enjoy life after football to its fullest now.”
