Financially, John Mikel Obi might be reaping the benefits of a move to China, but on the field of play, the Chelsea great isn’t seeing much success so far, or any success at all.

Mikel is currently enduring the worst spell of his entire career, as he was in action in Tianjin TEDA’s 2-1 defeat to South Korean amateur side, Gyeongju Citizen. Could it get any worse than that?

The loss to Gyeongju Citizen was the eighth game in a row in which Mikel has found himself on the losing side — something he has never experienced in his football career.

Mikel is the only star signing of what’s a very weak Tianjin TEDA team, and Tianjin TEDA begin their Chinese Super League campaign against Shandong Luneng at the Jinan Olympic Sports Center Stadium on March 4, 2017.

This current eight-game losing streak is actually the longest Mikel’s entire professional football career. Will he be regretting the move to China when there was interest from Marseille and Valencia?
