When Paul Pogba left Manchester United, he left without a limelight – just a youngster with potential who didn’t make it at United when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge.
However, it was in Juventus that Pogba got to make his mark in world football, under the guidance of Antonio Conte, and he has now returned to Old Trafford, as the world’s most expensive player.
Pogba’s agent Mini Raiola has attributed it to Conte.
He told talkSPORT: “A little bit like Zlatan Ibrahimovic who went to Juventus – an amazing club – Paul also went there. Zlatan found Fabio Capello and Paul went there he found Conte. Both trainers for my players were very important in their career.
“[Leaving United] made him a better player, made him the player is now and that is why he could come back at that level – maybe if he had stayed he wouldn’t be at that level. You never know.”
