Call it delusion or what, but former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes his old team are better than Chelsea.

Spurs slumped out of the Europa League after an underwhelming 2-2 draw with Gent at Wembley, and have also lost the momentum in the title race, but it didn’t still change the mind of Redknapp.

“I wouldn’t swap Tottenham’s starting 11 for Chelsea’s,” BT Sport pundit Redknapp exclusively told Starsport.

“Maybe Chelsea have got a bit more strength and depth slightly all round.

“But as a starting 11, if you said: ‘manage one of those two teams which do you want?’ I’d pick Tottenham.”

Redknapp insists that if the squad had been fit all season they’d be vying for Premier League glory.

“The problem with Tottenham is they lost key players – they lost Harry Kane for a while,” he added.

“They’ve lost the centre halves a different times.

“Both Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld have been injured.

“I think if they’d have kept their team together they’d be right on Chelsea’s coat tails now.”
