Chelsea will play Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday for the second time this season and it might have been a different manager sitting in the Chelsea dugout according to The Sun‘s chief football reporter Neil Ashton.
Ashton claims Antonio Conte was almost sacked as Chelsea manager after the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in September.
“The defeat against Arsenal – where they were swatted to one side – Conte was so so close to being replaced as Chelsea manager,” Ashton said while speaking on talkSPORT‘s Sports Bar.
“Chelsea got away with that story in terms of news value because people weren’t convinced about it.
“But it was right – he was very close to going.”
