From being a pivotal figure, Cesc Fabregas was reduced to a mere bench warmer at the start of the current campaign at Chelsea, but unlike many other players, the Spain International did not let his situation affect his mentality and dedication to the Chelsea cause. He remained loyal, worked on himself, and soon, things took a better turn for the man. Even when he could have left the club, with the likes of Milan and Inter courting him, he chose to stay and fight. Conte eventually gave him a chance,  and he hasn’t looked back since. He may not have gotten back in the starting 11, but things have definitely improved and are looking better for him.

There have been rumours of Fabregas moving to the Chinese super league, and that’s not surprising, seeing as he’s yet to regain a starting spot, but if the latest comments from the man himself are anything to go by, China will have to wait some more. In a recent interview, Cesc Fabregas revealed that contrary to rumours, he will not be leaving Stamford Bridge soon. According to the Spain international, he is “100% staying” at Chelsea in the coming 17/18 season. And while this may not seem like a big deal to some, I think it’s a massive boost for us.

I cannot recount the number of times Fabregas has been the difference in games involving us this season. Even on the occasions where he made a mere substitute appearance, he still influenced games in our favour. His eye for a pass, goal scoring prowess, and midfield abilities are only a few of the things that make him valuable. We have won games without Fabregas, and we’re doing well, but his presence is a huge boost. There’ll be games where we’ll need him to emerge victorious, and that’s the more reason why he’s special. I have always been a huge fan of the man, and his latest comments have no doubt endeared him to me more.

What makes him perfect for this blog? He lives for Chelsea FC, in fact, I heard he sat in the middle of a road, and refused to go home after that bitter loss to Barcelona in 2009. Haha.
