Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba is known for his bursting runs down the left for Barcelona but the left-back has lost his place in the starting XI at Barcelona after Barcelona manager Luis Enrique switched to a 3-4-3 formation.
Marcos Alonso has been impressive for Chelsea so far this season but will signing a player like Jordi Alba help bring competition for the left wingback position at Chelsea?
Alba, who is currently with the Spanish national team, admitted he doesn’t have the trust of Enrique and this could lead to a summer exit for the defender.
“I have the complete confidence of the [Spanish boss] boss [Julen Lopetegui] here, which for me is a compliment and fills me with confidence, something I’m not having at Barcelona, which maybe I’d like to have,” Alba said as quoted by Spanish media outlet AS.
“When I was playing, I didn’t ask for explanations, and I won’t do that now either. All players want to have continuity, to have minutes. It’s true that in recent seasons I’ve played a greater role but those are the manager’s decisions.”
