Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed Chelsea tried to sign Bayern Munich winger Frank Ribery for £56 million but the German club rejected the offer. The bid for Ribery was reportedly made in 2008 when Ribery was one of the hottest players in Europe.
“The offer we had for Franck Ribery in 2008 was almost unbelievable,” Rummenigge told SportBild.
“The decision not to sell Franck Ribery nevertheless was a milestone in the development of FC Bayern. That was the moment when FC Bayern got to be a ‘buying club’.”
