Many were shocked to see Michy Batshuayi’s name on the list of players called to represent the Belgium national team.
The 23-year-old has yet to make an impression in his debut season for the club and is yet to start a Premier League game since he signed for Chelsea from Marseille in a £33 million deal.
Batshuayi remains an important player for his country since bursting onto the scene in 2015, after three goals in nine appearances since making his debut, and Belgium boss Roberto Martinez believes he has plenty to offer his side.
“We have to support him. He is fit and can be an important player for us,” said Martinez.
