Despite an impressive first season with Chelsea that have seen the Blues open a 10-point gap at the summit of the Premier League, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte claimed last week that Manchester City and Manchester United have better squads than Chelsea.
With Chelsea favourites to win the league this season and also make a return to the Champions League next season, Chelsea have promised Conte he will be heavily backed this summer as he seeks to strengthen the Chelsea squad according to a report by Standard Sport.
Chelsea will have enough money to spend this summer after the sale of Oscar and Bamford generated £70 million, while the new Nike sponsorship kit deal will be worth an extra £60m-a-year when it begins in 2017-18. The departures of John Mikel Obi, Branislav Ivanovic and the expected exit of captain John Terry in the summer mean there will be enough room in Chelsea’s wage bill to accommodate new signings.
According to Standard Sport, Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata are high on Conte’s list of targets while Conte also wants at least one centre half, a full-back and a midfielder to compete for a first team spot.
This summer will definitely be an exciting one for Chelsea fans.
