Chelsea’s record singing Fernando Torres, who’s now with Atletico Madrid, was hurt after a coming together with opponent Alex Bergantinos as they both clashed heads during his side’s 1-1 draw with Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga.

There was serious concern among everyone at the Estadio Riazor – as players and medics rushed to his aid before he was taken to hospital in the back of an ambulance.

The news so far has been positive with Atletico Madrid saying Torres is conscious and alert.

Torres joined Chelsea midway through the 2010/11 season in a then British record-breaking £50million transfer, however he failed to reach his glorious heights in west London, scoring 45 goals in 172 appearances. Although he’s still loved by the Blues fans for that memorable second goal against Barcelona in the 2012 Champions League, as Chelsea went on to win the finals against Bayern in Munich.

Chelsea official twitter handle wished the former Blue well.
