Ever since Antonio Conte took over as manager of Chelsea, there has been a remarkable improvement in the team. He has lifted us from where we found ourselves last season and put us at the top…where we belong. We’re not sure exactly what his secrets are, and how he’s managed to pull this remarkable feat off in so short a period, but one thing is sure – players are happy, at least that is clear to see for everyone.
And honestly, as important as his other tactics and managerial secrets are, this is very important. Whatever he does, Conte must never lose his players’ happiness and joy to play, because it’s the joy to play for both your manager and team that pushes you to keep going hard and winning.
Last season, we were so poor on the pitch because we were in shambles off the pitch. That can never happen again. Conte must continually find a way to keep his players happy, especially the key ones because obviously he can’t please everyone. But the bottom line is Chelsea have been magically transformed not because the coach uses voodoo, but because he has managed to transform the atmosphere of gloom and displeasure at the club from last season into that of happiness, and that transformation is something he should never lose, no matter what.
We have an amazing crop of players, and they’ll continue to top British football as long as you give them a reason to, maybe unprofessional, but it’s the way it is.
