With over 20 players in the squad and only 11 allowed to start in a team, a negative spirit could be created in the squad by those who fail to make the starting 11.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte revealed he maintains a positive spirit in the squad by giving all the players the same importance during training.
“When you have 20 or 21 players in the squad, the best way to give all the players the same importance during the training session is to pay great attention,” Conte said.
“If, during training, you don’t pay attention to a player, or you don’t want to improve him, that’s a lack of respect for the player. In this case I think it would be right for a player to be unhappy, but not when a coach tries to pick the best starting 11 to win.
“My task is to make the best decision for the team but sometimes it’s normal you can make mistakes with these choices.”
