Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas admits he gets jealous watching other Premier League teams playing in the Champions League and he is determined to return to the Champions League next season with Chelsea.
This is the first season in the career of Fabregas that he isn’t playing Champions League football.
Chelsea missed out on Champions League football this season due to our terrible title defence in the 2015/16 season which saw us finish 10th.
“Getting back into the Champions League is definitely motivating me as well as the title,” Fabregas told Standard Sport. “This is where we want to be next season. For it to happen, we have to do well this season first.
“I’m jealous when I see the other English teams playing in it. Of course, you don’t want to be on the sofa watching. Obviously, in a way I enjoy following the competition, like seeing Manchester City’s game against Monaco.
“I want to be there, I want to be on the pitch, I want to play in the Champions League, which is the biggest stage for the club. I miss it a lot because it is the first time in my career that I don’t play in the competition. Hopefully, next season we will be there.”
