Chelsea are the favourites to sign Romelu Lukaku at the end of the season, and with his contract with Everton being stalled, Chelsea might land their key target during the summer.
Former assistant manager Ray Wilkins believes going to Chelsea will be a bad deal for Lukaku, as he doesn’t see him starting ahead of Diego Costa.
“He wouldn’t play in front of Costa would he,” he told Sky Sports.
“If you look at Antonio Conte when he was at Juventus he had Fernando Llorente. He likes a big one [striker] and a couple of small ones.”
Wilkins also frowned at the fact that Chelsea will have to pay more than double the £28 million they sold him to Everton if the Blues re-signed the 23-year-old.
“I wouldn’t put it past Chelsea to go back in for him. They’ll have to pay at least double what they sold him for [£28 million] – probably £60 million,” he said.
