In a few months time, all attention will be on transfer activities, and like they usually say: “leagues and trophies are won during the transfer window.”
While Manchester United and Manchester City spent massively in the summer transfer window last year, Chelsea were more efficient by signing players like N’Golo Kante, David Luiz and Marcos Alonso – who have all been great this season.
But Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has conceded that just as his team will sign new players in the next window, Chelsea and Co will also sign players.
“Teams spend a lot of money, not just Manchester City,” Guardiola said.
“A lot of money, all the teams around the world. A lot.
“We spent a lot of money, but other teams around the world spend £80m, £100m for one player – not just the team.
“Next season Chelsea are going to buy, Tottenham are going to buy, United are going to buy.
“City, Barcelona, Juventus, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich – all the teams.
“And it is so tough in that competition (Champions League) with all the teams.
“At the top level, the mistakes you make, wow, the teams are really good.”
