A lot of the pre-match attention was on Andy Carroll as he returned back to fitness to face Chelsea. However, the giant forward didn’t make his impact felt all through the game as Chelsea’s defence shut him out totally.

Thibaut Courtois was on holidays all through the game, and what was even interesting is the fact that Carroll couldn’t hurt Chelsea with all West Ham’s long balls. In fact, Chelsea’s back five of Victor Moses, Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Marcos Alonso won every aerial duel against Carroll in the first-half, which led to him having no impact in the game.

Eden Hazard recognised the work done by his teammates at the back and hailed them for shutting out Carroll.

He said: “We know they play like this. Andy Carroll is one of the best players in the world with his head but we dealt with it, the defence did very well, Gaz, David and Azpi, so we deserved to win.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
