Eden Hazard shocked everyone when he used his back to pass the ball to N’Golo Kante, and it was a perfect pass in a counterattacking situation.
Although he joked at first that it was for the fans, Hazard later admitted that the reason he attempted the pass was because it was the best way for him to have played the ball to Kante, and if he had lost the ball and Chelsea conceded a goal, he’d have been in trouble with Antonio Conte.
“It was something natural,” he said in an interview with the Telegraph. “I did it once before, in France, it’s for the fans.” But Hazard says that with a grin. It was not, really, for the supporters. It was actually the best way for him to execute “a good pass”. “Because if we had lost the ball and conceded a goal then I would have been in trouble with Antonio,” Hazard added.
