When Antonio Conte was given the job of restoring Chelsea’s fortunes, after a disastrous campaign, not many expected that Chelsea will be at the top of the table at this stage of the season.

In fact, there was a time Chelsea looked a mess after the loss against Arsenal. However Conte turned things around as the team switched to a 3-4-3 formation, and this has left Lampard hugely impressed.

“I’ve been very impressed,” he said on Sky Sports.

“I’m even more impressed because it wasn’t quite instant.

“There was a particular point of the season against Arsenal when they got well beaten at the Emirates.

“He changed it to a system he was very comfortable with at his past clubs. Their fortunes changed instantly.

“Last season you wondered where the motivation was. You wondered if top players wanted to stay or could they regain the form they had before.

“He’s gone in with an iron fist, he’s worked them hard in training. I think he’s got in their heads, he’s got their top players playing, he’s found a system no other team in the league can match.

“For a first season, to take them from where they were last season and to be clear at this stage, is incredible.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
