Bernardo Silva is one of the hottest properties in world football at the moment. The 22-year-old Monaco midfielder is wanted by Chelsea and a host of other clubs in Europe, and he has revealed that he’s flattered by the reports.
His statement also shows that he’d be interested in a move to the Premier League.
Speaking to The Times, the Monaco star who’s valued at £70 million said: “Yes I heard [the reports]. I have no idea if it’s true or not.
“Of course it’s nice to be associated with that kind of club but I haven’t thought a lot about it.
“One day I would like to play in England or Spain, in one of the best leagues in the world, but for now I’m very happy here.”
Silva added: “It’s true that we don’t have a lot of supporters.
“Most of the games it’s 5,000 to 10,000, so not as many as you are used to in England, where every game you have 40,000, 50,000, 60,000, but the supporters are always there for us. They give us a good feeling.
“It is a bit different here to most [leading football] cities. Even when I was in the second team at Benfica, I would have people looking at me, asking for autographs when I was out for dinner. It’s the same in England, I think.
“Here, sometimes people know who you are, but they don’t bother you. Sometimes when you walk on the street, people say: ‘Thank you very much. It’s nice to watch you play this season. You’re a good team.’
“It’s a different kind of feeling here. It’s nice.”
