Very important victory for Chelsea as Tottenham and Manchester City waited for Chelsea to slip.

Now we’re 10 points clear at the top again, and the pressure is back on our rivals.

See how the players fared:

Courtois: Barely had anything to do in this game, and was unhappy to lose his clean sheet with that late Lanzini goal. 6/10

Azpilicueta: Solid display from the 27-year-old as a centre-back and played the latter stages of the second-half as a wing-back. 7/10

Luiz: Had a good game against Andy Carroll; he kept the giant forward quiet and won his aerial duels against the tall West Ham striker. 7/10

Cahill: Marshalled the defence well, and one would admit that the Chelsea defence was rock solid despite West Ham’s pressure. 7/10

Kante: Yet another good day at the office for the 25-year-old. Worked very hard in midfield for Chelsea, and the first goal was as a result of his work rate in midfield. 7.5/10

Fabregas: Not a good display from the Spaniard. The game went by him in midfield today, although his cross from the corner led to Costa’s goal. Didn’t do enough to hold on to the starting spot. 5.5/10

Moses: Very good and energetic display from the Nigerian international. He went forward and attacked his former side and almost got a goal. At the back end, he was also solid for the Blues and saved a ball that could easily have gone in the net early in the second-half. 7.5/10

Alonso: Did his work in defence and also went forward to support the attack on numerous occasions. Good game. 7/10

Hazard: Was excellent today, good goal, worried West Ham with his skill, was very confident and his ‘back pass’ showed extreme confidence. Deserved man of the match. 8/10

Pedro: Worked hard for the team and assisted Hazard’s goal with a sleek one-two touch. Almost got a goal but a good save from Randolph denied him the opportunity. Drifted out of the game in the second-half, but a good game nevertheless. 7/10

Costa: You could argue that he looked off the pace on many occasions but was at the right place at the right time to seal Chelsea’s victory with that goal, and almost got a second, but was denied by a good save from Randolph. 7.5/10

Matic: Replaced Pedro with about 25 minutes left of play to help seal the midfield from West Ham’s relentless pressure. 6/10

Willian: Replaced Hazard with about 15 minutes left to play; did his bit but didn’t have the opportunity to do much, as Chelsea were more interested in keeping hold of the victory. 5.5/10

Zouma: Came on for Moses with about 14 minutes left as Chelsea looked to seal things at the back. Didn’t have much to do but was left caught out of position for Lanzini’s goal. 5.5/10

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
