Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to re-sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, who left Chelsea for Everton three years ago for a fee of £28 million.
According to a report by Daily Mirror, Lukaku pulled out of contract talks this week with Everton over a planned £100 million buy-out clause. Lukaku was reportedly not happy with the level of compensation Everton wanted for him if an offer is made for the striker.
Lukaku is reportedly Antonio Conte’s top transfer target for the summer and according to Daily Mirror, Chelsea will offset the cost of Lukaku’s transfer through the sale of Diego Costa, who was linked with a move to China in January.
However, Chelsea will reportedly not pay beyond £65 million for Lukaku.
