Alexis Sanchez has been strongly linked with a summer move to Chelsea. He has just 15 months left on his contract, and by the end of the season, it’ll just be a year left.
Chelsea are ready to capitalise on the situation and snap up the Chilean.
Sanchez has looked increasingly frustrated at the North London club, and even his country people have told him to dump Arsenal.
The 28-year-old recently stated he’d like to remain in London, a statement that pointed to the fact that he’d be interested in a move to West London to wear the Blue jersey.
“I am happy in London and I hope to finish my contract there (at Arsenal),” Sanchez told El Grafico.
“I like to stay in a city and in a team, but in a team that is a winner, that has a winning mentality.”
Reacting to the statement, Wenger said: “I think he’s happy here. It’s true we have not extended his contract yet but I hope he will stay at the club. I think you have to be cautious when people give interviews in their home countries because the interpretation is not always exactly what they wanted to say.
“But I don’t see anything negative (in Sanchez’s comments). He said he wants to win the championship, that’s what everybody wants and I can understand that completely.”
