Antonio Conte started the season with a 4-1-4-1/4-3-3 formation before switching to a 3-4-3 formation after he suffered losses to Liverpool and Arsenal.
The 3-0 loss at the Emirates was the turning point for the Blues, as the Italian went back to his tried and tested 3 at the back formation. Chelsea have lost only once in the league since then and the Blues are currently 10 points clear at the top of the table.
Robbie Savage believes if Conte had started the season with the 3-4-3 formation, Chelsea would have been league winners by now.
Savage told the Mirror: “To abandon one system, and adopt the one he favoured before, two months into the campaign was a stunning admission that Chelsea’s flat back four wasn’t working.
“If they had started the season playing three at the back, Chelsea would probably have won the title and paraded around town in their open-topped bus already.
“It’s only a matter of time.”
