Chelsea paid over £30 million to bring back David Luiz to Chelsea on transfer deadline day, and it was a move that shocked the football world, as many pundits ridiculed Chelsea for going back for a defender described as “erratic” by many.
The 29-year-old Brazil has shone in the centre of a Chelsea back three, and Robbie Savage who once criticised the move, has called him the revelation of the season.
Savage told the Mirror: “He makes the cut simply because he has proved so many people wrong, probably including me.
“When Chelsea brought him back to Stamford Bridge from Paris St Germain – for a tidy profit, I might add – everyone thought he was an accident waiting to happen.
“But he has hardly made a mistake.
“Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta have been solid, too, but Luiz has been a revelation.
“I tip my hat to him, mainly because I thought it would end in tears, not 10 points clear at the top.”
David Luiz’s situation is a clear example of putting your critics to shame.
