Ahead of our game against Stoke City later today, Stoke City manager Mark Hughes believes Chelsea’s success this season hasn’t been down to the 3-4-3 system employed by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.
Hughes revealed Chelsea has been successful this season because the players have bought into Conte’s philosophy, something they didn’t do last season when Jose Mourinho was in charge of Chelsea.
“If truth be known, they’ve always had good players and it’s all about the players,” Hughes said,
“It’s not about systems but whether your players commit to what you are telling them to do.
“Clearly that’s what is happening this year at Chelsea which maybe wasn’t the case for whatever reason the season before.
“The key is if you can recruit good players who will run around then you have a chance of taking something out of games. It applies to them and it applies to us.”
