After last season’s fiasco filled with dramatic subplots of abysmal performance and players devaluation, both the fans and the media called for squad overhauling during last summer’s transfer window. Retrospectively, these were the same players that won the league title the previous season. The spotlight was on every one of them as speculations about their futures made the headlines. The core players that formed the spine of the team were out of sorts. Chelsea looked destined for doom. Then came in Antonio Conte during the summer as new head coach, who till date has transformed Chelsea’s fortunes admirably.
There have been rumours over the future of certain core players – Thibaut Courtois & Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, Diego Costa to China and several others. It will be shrewd and wise for Chelsea to keep this band of blue brothers for the progress and continuity of our rebuilding project. This will provide the ideal platform & support for Antonio Conte to work his magic at the club without much fuss.
More so, keeping our core players will settle the dust of uncertainties concerning team unity and as well banish the idea of being a selling club. One quality of top clubs is their ability to keep their best players and still being able to add quality to the team. This is exactly what Chelsea must do to maintain our status among the elite clubs.
Let’s hope for the best. Cheers!
