Chelsea announced today that the team will visit Singapore as part of our 2017/18 preseason tour with games against Bayern Munich and Inter Milan lined up.
Former Chelsea striker Tore Andre Flo expects Antonio Conte and the squad to benefit greatly from their pre-season visit to Singapore this summer as Chelsea will get to play against good opposition before the start of the season.
“It will be a great experience for Chelsea to be here,’ said Flo (pictured above left), who also serves as a Chelsea club ambassador.
“To play here against good opposition just before the season starts and in nice warm conditions, it’s going to do the team well.
“It used to be that you would come out on tour and play against local teams but these are really good competitive games which make it more interesting for the players as well as the supporters that are over here.”
Flo also revealed playing in Singapore will help Chelsea expand our supporter base in Asia.
“The supporters here are very passionate about football but at the same time, they’re also very polite towards us. They ask to take pictures with nice manners and they’re generally very happy to see their heroes,” Flo added.
“The fans always come out in big numbers, wearing their supporter gear and it’s nice for players to come halfway across the world and to see that they’re appreciated over here as well.
“It is important for a club like Chelsea to expand our supporter base and obviously, Asia is a big market and is growing very fast. So it’s really important for the club to come here and to acknowledge our fans in this part of the world.”
