Reports have it that Chelsea will sign a new left wing-back in the summer transfer window to fight with Marcos Alonso in the wing-back position.

The Evening Standard claims that Antonio Conte is a ‘huge admirer’ of Ryan Bertrand and will try to sign the England international this summer.

The report also claims that Southampton now value the 27-year-old in excess of £25 million, having signed him from Chelsea for just £10m in February 2015.

Bertrand broke through from the Chelsea academy but initially joined Chelsea from Gillingham shortly before his 16th birthday in 2005. Despite playing in the Champions League finals, he failed to hold down a regular role under Jose Mourinho before he was eventually sold.

He has consistently improved in Southampton, and reports suggest Conte is interested.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of Ryan Bertrand and was disappointed with his sale. But a return would definitely be a good one; he’ll to add to our very limited English core, plus the fact that he’s fast, strong defensively and is also good going forward.

What’s your take on a return for Bertrand?
