There has never been reason to doubt Eden Hazard’s loyalty to Chelsea. The man has always been dedicated to the Chelsea cause. Since his arrival from Lille in 2012, he has continued to better the club, and not once has he openly implied he would quit Chelsea. However, toward the end of last season, which was the worst ever for the club and most of its players, there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of Hazard.

Hazard was linked to Madrid by most news outlets, and many Chelsea fans thought it might have been true. Of course, Hazard did eventually come out to deny all such claims, but in doing so, he did also suggest he might leave Chelsea at some point. In his words last season, he had ‘unfinished business’ at Chelsea. It was very relieving to hear that from the player himself, one who has been the club’s best in recent years, but it also suggested that the day we’ll lose him would be here soon.

The rumours have cropped up again this term because he’s doing so well at Chelsea, but then, when you rethink his comments from last season, you start to wonder if he’ll feel the urge to leave if a great offer were made him by the likes of Madrid. When he said he had unfinished business at Chelsea, it wasn’t clear what he meant exactly, but many believe it might be winning another EPL title at least, or the UCL. If it’s the EPL, then, we must brace up for life without him next season, and if it’s the Champions League, well, it’s not too far away.

Either ways, we must begin to prepare for life after Hazard, in case it ever faces us. From the looks of things, the man is settled and happy at the Bridge, however, this is still football and we know one offer can change that any day. We love Hazard, and it’d be devastating to lose him to any club, but we will survive, after all we are Chelsea and have survived worse.

King Jay is a writer/broadcaster with years of experience under his belt. His love affair with Chelsea actually began as a joke, but today, he stands tall as a die-hard blue. What makes him perfect for this blog? He lives for Chelsea FC, in fact, I heard he sat in the middle of a road, and refused to go home after that bitter loss to Barcelona in 2009. Haha.
