Chelsea defeated Manchester City 2-1 in Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, and Eden Hazard was named man of the match.
The Belgian deserved the man-of-the-match award because of his telling display.
Hazard had four attempts on goal. No other Chelsea player had more than one, and he also created three chances, a figure bettered only by David Silva (six).
Hazard also made four interceptions, as many as anyone on the pitch, and his three successful take-ons were matched only by Pedro and Jesus Navas.
Hazard was also influential in recovering the ball, as he made seven ball recoveries. Only Diego Costa and Fabian Delph had more ball recoveries. Diego Costa made eight ball recoveries.
Nemanja Matic entered the game in the second-half and was one of the best players on the pitch. His impact was felt greatly as the midfield became solid. He won three defensive aerial duels following his half-time introduction, a figure nobody on the pitch bettered – including those who played the whole game.
