Chelsea beat Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, and it was an important win for the Blues.

N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic were very key in the middle of the park. Kante made three interceptions and a game-high 13 ball recoveries, with Nemanja Matic amassing seven ball recoveries.

Diego Costa, Kante and Hazard all completed two take-ons.

Chelsea had 22 successful tackles compared to Southampton’s 18. Azpilicueta and Victor Moses both made four each.

In terms of chances created, Eden Hazard led the way setting up five, followed by Diego Costa with three and N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas two apiece.

Southampton made 40 more passes than us overall, although we completed four times as many in the opposition penalty area and more in the final third, too.

The game’s top passers were all in the central midfield position, with Oriol Romeu (67) and Steven Davis (64) top of the charts, followed by N’Golo Kante.
