Ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final match against Tottenham on Saturday, Chelsea defender Gary Cahill believes the result of the match will have no effect on the league and he also revealed Chelsea want to win Tottenham on Saturday.
“Saturday will have nothing to do with the League. In my head, I don’t think it will have any impact. It is purely a Cup game,” Cahill told Standard Sport.
“Regardless of the opposition, we want to win it. We want to win the match because we want to pick up the FA Cup, it’s one of our goals. Anything else is irrelevant in my eyes.
“Are Tottenham now favourites? It’s a one-off game so however people want to build it up, they will.
“But it’s at Wembley and maybe people will make a bigger deal of Tottenham going back to Wembley (and their record there).
“I love Wembley, I love playing there with England and Chelsea. Tottenham are in fantastic form, as we have been for 95 per cent of the season.
“For the neutral it’s a fantastic game and for us it’s a great opportunity to go into a final. Two very good sides are going against each other.
“Every top player enjoys big games and this is a huge one at the weekend. But you only enjoy them if you win them. That’s our focus, to win and then get back to the League.”
