Gary Cahill has worn the captain armband for majority of the season in place of Chelsea captain John Terry, and he yet again wore the armband in the 4-2 win against Southampton.

Terry came on in the last five minutes of the game but refused to wear the armband after Cahill offered it to him.

Cahill said: “I’ve enjoyed it, I’ve had it for a lot of this season and I’ve enjoyed the added bit of pressure on my shoulders.

“I tried to give it to John (Terry) when he came on but he’s a bit superstitious and I don’t think he wanted it. It’s given me another challenge and a bit more responsibility, but everything’s the same.”
