Chelsea academy product Ryan Bertrand reached the peak of his Chelsea career under Roberto Di Matteo, when he started in the finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2012 as a young defender, playing just in front of Ashley Cole.

He never got a chance under Jose Mourinho and was eventually sold to Southampton where he has now established himself as one of the finest full-backs in the Premier League.

Sportsmail claim Antonio Conte is scouring the market for defensive reinforcements ahead of the 2017/18 campaign and Bertrand is on the Italian’s wishlist.

Chelsea sold Bertrand for just £10 million to Southampton in 2015 and with his current form the 27-year-old is worth more than double that amount, and Chelsea must have to cough out over £20 million to re-sign Bertrand.
