Chelsea Under-18s lost their first game since September as they suffered a 2-0 loss away from home to Manchester City earlier today.
Youth team boss Jody Morris made three changes from last weekend’s win over Manchester United with Jared Thompson, Joseph Colley and Luke McCormick coming in to the team. Thompson returned in goal behind a back three of Reece James, Marc Guehi and Colley, while McCormick partnered captain Jacob Maddox in central midfield.
17 minutes into the game, Tom Dele-Bashiru took advantage of a sloppy loss in possession to fire a precise shot from 20 yards into the Chelsea net.
Chelsea continued to press for an equaliser but to no avail until the 92nd minute of the game when Taylor Richards poked in the rebound from Bobby Duncan’s saved shot to end the contest at 2-0.
The Chelsea youngsters return to action in Manchester on Tuesday 18 April for the first leg of the FA Youth Cup final.
