As the dust settles from our emphatic victory over Spurs, there will be renewed hopes among Chelsea fans in our quest to win the double. While celebrations will continue in relation to our memorable feat of winning fierce rival, Spurs and reaching the FA Cup final, we must not get carried away and shift attention to league action. Business is far from finished and we need to turn the screws and get the job done.

Despite being safe and well-positioned in the top half of the league, the Saints will still be looking to grab valuable points at Stamford Bridge when they play against the Blues in today’s fixture.

Here are their 6 dangermen:

THE HIT MAN – MANOLO GABBIADINI:

The Italy International is a superb striker with a deadly left foot. His goal scoring exploits has seen Southampton become a huge threat. Conte had this to say about him:

“Someone who doesn’t know him can’t understand the talent this player has,’ said Conte. ‘He has a fantastic left foot, one of the best in the world.

‘It’s amazing the way he kicks the ball. He is a really good player, a talented player and we must pay great attention to him”.

The winter signing from Napoli has compensated for the loss of striker, Charlie Austin. We should be looking to stop him from firing at our foot or risk being overturned by the striker.

THE SET-PIECES/DEAD-BALL SPECIALIST – JAMES WARD-PROWSE:

The England International is reputed to be a specialist in dead-ball and set-pieces deliveries. He’s been likened to be: ‘the new David Beckham’; the young Saint is an amazing player. Chelsea’s vulnerability to dead balls and set-piece is worrisome and would be tested tonight. But more important is finding a formula to arrest this issue and if possible avoid giving away fouls that will present Southampton with goal scoring opportunities from set-pieces or dead balls as within their rank they have a specialist.

THE ENFORCER – ORIOL ROMEU:

This name surely rings a bell in the ears of all Chelsea fans. A former player against his old club might just provide the tonic for a superb performance. Romeu will be looking to disrupt Chelsea’s attacking play and exert his influence in midfield and also conjuring attacking moves for his team. It’s going to be a sturdy affair.

THE WING-WIZARDS/MAGICIANS – DUSAN TADIC AND NATHAN REDMOND:

The two wingers will be looking to expose Chelsea’s back-line by exerting pressure on our wing backs and also causing us problems down the channels, thereby opening up play for other players to arrive in-between the lines and spaces around the box. Invention, precision and creativity will be on show from these talented players and we surely need to stop them from wrecking havoc.

THE BRICK WALL – VIRGIL VAN DJIK:

The Dutch International defender is one of the most sought after player due to his outstanding performances for the Saints. He will be looking to stop Chelsea from scoring today as he also possibly auditions for a summer move to the club.

Let’s keep the blue flag flying high. Cheers!
