Nathan Ake might be disappointed with how his return to Chelsea have been so far. The Dutchman who was playing regularly for Bournemouth while on loan, has found game time pretty hard to get at Chelsea; in fact, he has only played two FA Cup games for the Blues since his return in January.
With Gary Cahill unavailable for today’s game against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semifinal, Antonio Conte has revealed that he could turn to Ake to replace the captain.
While Conte has made it clear that Terry won’t start the game, Kurt Zouma and Ake are the other options to replace Cahill. Zouma hasn’t looked his usual self since his return from injury, and Conte seem to be looking the way of Ake for this fixture.
“He deserves to have this chance to play because he has always shown me in all this period great commitment,” Conte said.
“He works very hard. His behaviours are great, fantastic. He never said nothing. Don’t forget he was playing every game with Bournemouth and he wanted to come and stay with us and try to work together and help us fight for the title.
“He is a good player, he is ready to have this opportunity, this chance. He deserves this opportunity and I trust him. I have no problem taking this decision. In this system Ake has the right characteristics to be the substitute to Gary.”
