During the first half of the season, Diego Costa was on fire as he scored 15 goals that helped Chelsea take control of the title race which left the rest of the Premier League trailing in their wake.
Since January, Costa hasn’t reached such heights again, and wasn’t selected for the team of the season – after being tipped to win the player of the year at one point this season.
There have been calls by many for Conte to replace Costa with summer signing Michy Batshuayi or play a three-man attack of Eden Hazard, Pedro Rodriguez and Willian. But Conte has chosen to stick with the Spain international and has tipped him to even score against Spurs.
When asked about Costa, a smiling Conte said: “I think he is keeping the goals for the finale of the season. It is the right moment for him to score.”
