N’Golo Kante was yesterday named as the PFA Player of Year, after a beautiful season with the Blues, as Chelsea are close to winning the Premier League this season.
“I think we must be pleased for him. We must be proud for him. It’s a great achievement,” said Conte in the build-up to Chelsea’s game with Southampton on Tuesday.
“He’s working very hard – I think he’s improving a lot.
“He’s really a very good guy. He’s always been able to work on his weakness. I hope to continue in this way. It’s important for him to not stop this will and desire to improve yourself.”
Conte also revealed an area where Kante has improved tremendously. The Chelsea boss has been insistent that the Frenchman should work hard on his forward passes, and the Italian has admitted that Kante has improved in that regard.
He said: “He is showing great ability to win the ball and also I think he is improving a lot with the ball to find the first pass to play in a vertical way. And not only in a horizontal way. I think also that he can improve and he must continue to improve.”
