Antonio Conte named a strange starting lineup to face Tottenham, and it paid off in the end as Chelsea ran out 4-2 winners in what was a very difficult game.

Speaking after the game, Conte insisted that he didn’t disrespect the FA Cup by fielding a slightly weakened side, but he had to rest some players ahead of the game against Southampton. Southampton will have ten days to rest, while the Chelsea players will have barely three days to recover.

“When you arrive in this part of the season, when you know you are to play three tough games. One in the semi-final to reach the final in a top game. This game was top in our priority. Then you have to play again on Tuesday,” Conte explained after the game.

“It’s important for the league against a team that has to rest ten days. Tottenham have one more day to rest. They play the day after against Palace.”

Hazard indeed looked fresh as he entered the second-half to wreak havoc on Tottenham’s defence.
