Chelsea boss Antonio Conte reportedly wants to bring Roma midfielder and legend Daniele De Rossi to Chelsea despite his age if his contract dispute with AS Roma isn’t resolved according to a report by Italian media outlet Calciomercato.com.
The report claims contract negotiations between De Rossi and Roma are at an impasse as De Rossi wants a new three-year contract from Roma while Roma is only willing to offer him a one-year deal with an option for another season.
Italian clubs Juventus and Inter Milan are reportedly monitoring the situation and would reportedly move for the 33-year-old midfielder if the opportunity arises but Calciomercato.com claim De Rossi would not want to play for another Italian club and would prefer a move to Chelsea instead.
De Rossi is admirer of Chelsea boss Conte after the duo worked together with the Italian national team and De Rossi has never hidden his admiration of Conte.
“Conte has impressed me,” De Rossi recently said as quoted on Calciomercato.com.
“Tactically he’s a phenomenon and although it is hard to achieve, it is nice to become one of his players.”
De Rossi has been at Roma since his youth days and no one really expects the Roma legend to leave the capital club except his relationship with the club goes sour.
De Rossi was an excellent player during his prime but reports linking him with a move to Chelsea are definitely way off the mark as the midfielder won’t be a quality addition for the Blues.
A more realistic target will be De Rossi’s teammate Radja Nainggolan, who Conte failed to sign last summer.
