Prior to the 4-2 win against Southampton, Diego Costa’s last goal for the club came in the 2-1 win against West Ham last month.

The Spain international had gone five league games and seven in all competitions without a goal, but he capped his 85th league game for Chelsea with two beautiful goals and a man-of-the-match performance.

Costa’s brace took him to 51 goals in 85 games for the club.

However, besides his goalscoring heroics, Costa did something that no other Chelsea player had done this season – he had a record 16 touches in the opposition penalty box, and that is massive by any standard.

His performance against Southampton is indeed worthy of so much praise.
