Diego Costa is one of the reason Chelsea soared to the top of the Premier League but goals from the striker seems to be drying up since his head got turned by the offer from China.
Recent stats from Opta show Costa’s mind might not be at Chelsea at the moment and the various interviews he granted during the international break even makes the claim more valid.
Costa was top of the scoring charts before the offer from China but Evertons’s Lukaku, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Arsenal’s Sanchez are ahead of Costa in the goal-scoring charts.
Before January 14th when the offer from China was received, Costa was scoring 0.7 goals per game according to Opta stats but that has dropped to 0.4 goals per game after January 14th.
Costa had five assists before he had his head turned by the offer from China but the 28-year-old striker has failed to set up a single goal for a Chelsea team-mate since January 14th.
Costa scored 14 goals before January 14th and had a conversion rate of 24.14% but that has dropped to just 10.34% since after January 14th as Costa has scored just 4 goals after January 14th.
With Chelsea having so much of the ball today and needing a spark up front, Costa failed to deliver yet again, missing key chances and only managing to get two of his nine attempts on target.
Should Conte consider dropping the striker or do you think Costa would come good again? Let’s know what you think.
