Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph believes Manchester City were far better than Chelsea during Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Manchester City on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.
“We were the better team by far – by a country mile,” said Delph.
“But goals win games and we have not managed to score more than them.
“We’ve got great attacking players and they have been great all season but we fell short. I’m sure the next games they will be more clinical.
“The 14-point gap isn’t a fair reflection of how we’ve played. Because of injuries, I’ve pretty much not been there this season but I’ve watched the games and even the ones we’ve lost we’ve been the better team. With some of the results this season we have deserved a lot better.
“We can hold our heads high after Wednesday’s performance. We like to take the positives out of it.
“We are definitely going to come again though because we are a top team. We will learn a lot of lessons for next season.
“We’ve gone through the first year with this manager and we have learned a lot. I certainly look at football a lot differently now.
“So hopefully the boys can pick themselves up, go through the rest of the season unbeaten, win the FA Cup, finish in the top four and come back ready to go again.”
