Didier Drogba was a role model for Romelu Lukaku during his time at Stamford Bridge, and the Chelsea legend has recently revealed that the Belgium striker will make a sensational return to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman has reacted and when speaking to the press on Thursday, Koeman said: “He hasn’t told me [what his future plans are]. He told me [he didn’t want] to sign a new contract.”
In response to Drogba’s comment, Koeman took a slight dig at the former Chelsea striker, as he told the BBC: “I don’t know, maybe I wait for the call from Drogba – he can tell me what will happen. Next season I don’t know.
“I leave it now because I can’t change the situation at the moment, we will focus on the weekend.”
Lukaku has been in good form this season and tops the scoring chart in the Premier League with 23 goals so far.
