Chelsea captain John Terry has made it official that he wouldn’t extend his contract with Chelsea at the end of the season and has revealed that he hopes to continue his playing career.

Former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet who’s currently the manager of Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua has revealed that he’d love for Terry to join his team.

“It is a great opportunity for him and for all the teams here [in China], including us,” Poyet told talkSPORT.

“The latest change of the quantity of foreigners on the pitch stops some clubs from bringing in defenders, but we are talking about a special one.

“It is a great possibility that China will be one of the possible situations for John Terry in the future.

“He has had a great career and he is going to be remembered forever. He is a great captain and he has done everything for the club.

“It is a very difficult decision whether to stay in England or go abroad.

“I would like him not to play in the Premier League for another club – maybe I’m a little bit selfish!”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
